Celebrating the New Year, Cherishing Friendship: The First Lunar New Year Gala for the Year of the Horse, Co-Hosted by Several Federal Conservative MPs, Successfully Held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa

Ottawa, February 11, 2026 — Today, Parliament Hill in Ottawa was illuminated with festive lights as the inaugural Lunar New Year Gala for the Year of the Horse — co-hosted by federal Conservative Members of Parliament and co-organized by the Alliance of Chinese Conservatives in Canada (AOCC) — was grandly held. Approximately 500 representatives from Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities across Canada, including Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and other cities, gathered together to witness this historic moment.

Before the official start of the event, the atmosphere was solemn. At the call of Chinese-Canadian MP Vincent Ho, all guests stood in silence for one minute to mourn the lives tragically lost in the recent campus shooting incident at Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. This moment of silence demonstrated the deep condolences of all attendees for the victims and their families, as well as a shared hope for peace and safety in society.

The gala attracted more than forty Conservative Members of Parliament and Senator, who attended and delivered warm holiday greetings, fully reflecting their attention and support for Asian-Canadian communities.

  • Chinese-Canadian MP Vincent Ho delivered sincere New Year greetings to all guests, wishing everyone a joyful and prosperous Year of the Horse, and affirmed the vital role of multicultural communities in building the Canadian nation.

  • MP Chak Au (Richmond Centre–Marpole) extended heartfelt Lunar New Year blessings to the Chinese community and engaged in warm conversations with attendees.

  • MP Arpan Khanna conveyed greetings on behalf of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, wishing all ethnic communities peace, health, and good fortune in the Year of the Horse.

The Alliance of Chinese Conservatives (AOCC) organized delegations from across the country to attend. AOCC President James Yu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the sponsoring Senator and MPs. He stated that AOCC will continue to serve as a bridge, promoting exchanges and cooperation between Asian-Canadian communities and federal politics.

The event featured a rich and diverse program of performances, filling the evening with joy and festivity.

The gala concluded in a warm and harmonious atmosphere. It not only celebrated Asian cultural traditions but also further strengthened connections among Asian-Canadian communities nationwide.
